Surroundings
Easily accessible are the small villages:
- Castellaro Lagusello recognized as “one of the most beautiful villages in Italy” in 2002, as “orange flags” in 2008 and 2011 as a UNESCO heritage site for the discovery of pile-dwelling sites. Characteristic is the heart-shaped lake and the nature reserve.
- Borghetto sul Mincio located on the banks of the Mincio which, with its water mills and small streets, seems to be in a fairy tale.
Nearby are the places that were the protagonists of the Second War of Independence:
- Solferino which has become the “orange flag” where it is possible to visit the Museum of the Risorgimento, the Ossuary, the Rocca and the Red Cross Memorial.
- San Martino of the battle with the Tower which rises within a large park. Going up the flight of spiral stairs you get to the top, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Garda and the morainic hills.
Other historical sites to visit are Cavriana with the Archaeological Museum of Upper Mantua, and Volta Mantua where the summer residence of the Gonzagas, famous for its Italian gardens, resides.
The Nuvolino farmhouse is only about ten kilometers from Lake Garda with its characteristic villages such as Peschiera del Garda, Lazise, Bardolino, Sirmione, Desenzano del Garda, Salò …, ideal to visit or to lie down on the countless beaches.
There is no shortage of amusement parks:
Gardaland, Movieland, Aqua Paradise and Medieval Times.
In the Garda hinterland there are the Sigurtà Garden Park, the Natura Viva Zoo Safari Park and water parks, including Cavour.
To indulge in a day of wellbeing, here is the Garda Villa dei Cedri Thermal Park in Colà di Lazise and the Terme di Sirmione with “Aquaria”.
Boat excursions on Lake Garda and on the Mincio river, among the lotus flowers in the splendid scenery of Grazie di Curtatone.
The Malcesine cable car to reach Monte Baldo, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view overlooking Lake Garda.
Mantua, land of the Gonzaga family known for the Palazzo Ducale and the Camera degli Sposi, and Palazzo Te with the Sala dei Giganti.
Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet is known for the opera performances and concerts held in the large Arena.
